Ether [Leah Hirsig, the Scarlet Woman Alostrael.] n.d. [c. 1918-1920] Oil on Canvas 53 x 43 cm.
The result of an ether "jag" by artist and by model [Leah Hirsig]'
At first glance one might doubt the advisability of meeting this lady alone! But back of the gleaming teeth in twisted mouth and in eyes diabolically shrewd, one sees an inherent good humour that proves encouraging.
Cheeks which suggest the rouge pot—or is it the occasion?—long loop of gold in right ear, scarlet robe with ornamentation in gold, thick chestnut hair, and our "vision" is complete. A vivid, green background.
One finds in this painting a quality of life rarely found on canvas.
