CHESS NOTES.
Eastbourne v. Hastings and St. Leonards II.—The unfinished game in this match between Messrs. Bullock and Herington, referred to Mr. J. Gunsberg for adjudication, has been given in favour of Mr. Herington. This makes the match a draw, each team having won 5½ games.
Handicap Tournament.—This very interesting tournament is now in full swing at the head-quarters of the Eastbourne Chess Club. There are 17 competitors, and each member has 32 games to play. From the score below it will be seen that a few of the players have done very well indeed, and there is every appearance of an exciting finish. The score up to Wednesday was as follows:
