Eastbourne v. Hastings.—The return match between the second team of the Hastings and St. Leonards Chess Club and the Eastbourne Chess Club was played at the Queen’s Hotel, Hastings, on the 13th inst. Play commenced about 6.45, the first game scored 7.45 on board No. 6, being in favour of the visitors, which was followed half an hour later by another win for Eastbourne on Board 5. After this there was some very even play and at the call of time the score stood 2½ all. The three remaining games were very kindly adjudicated by Mr. J. H. Blackburne, who gave them all as draws, and as will be seen from the score below the final result was another draw. The home team was under the command of Mr. Tuddenham and the visitors were captained by Mr. W. Coupe. Score:
