NOT ARRANGED BY CROWLEY:

GREEK TRAGEDY IN A CIRCUS.

A Scene Suggestive of a Rite of Eleusis: “Oedipus Rex” in Berlin.

At first glance, one might well be excused if one jumped to the conclusion that the photograph here reproduced showed one of the rites of Eleusis, the new religion founded by Mr. Aleister Crowley. In point of fact, it illustrates a scene in the production of Sophocles’ “Oedipus Rex” in Berlin. The tragedy was presented in Busch’s Circus, in order that the greatest possible effect might be attained. There has been but one performance, but this was so successful and drew so large an audience that it is hoped there will be others.
