CURIOUS LIBEL ACTION.

The hearing was commenced, before Mr. Justice Scrutton and a jury, of an action brought by Mr. George Cecil Jones, a consulting chemist, against the editor, publishers, and printers of “The Looking Glass” for alleged libel in coupling his name with that of Mr. Aleister Crowley in certain articles in which that person was accused of infamous and immoral practices. Mr. Jones gave evidence that he had no knowledge of the alleged immoral practices of Mr. Crowley, and the case was adjourned.

Mr. Simons (instructed by Messrs. Bullock and Co.) appeared for the plaintiff; Mr. Schiller (instructed by Mr. Gottlieb) for the publishing company; Mr. Fenton (editor) in person; and Mr. Rowlands (instructed by Messrs. White and Leonard) for the printers.
