The Vice-President’s premium of £5 is this month offered for an article (not exceeding 1,500 words in length) on the Poetry of Mr. Robert Bridges. The papers should be based on the excellent Oxford edition, which has made the Poet Laureate’s work accessible to thousands of new readers.

     

The October papers showed a wide diversity of taste and considerable literary acumen. Alfred Noyes was a popular subject, and poets so diverse as Mr. Herbert Trench and Mr. Aleister Crowley, Mr. Henry Newbolt and Mr. Clifford Bax were each dealt with by several contributors, but no ladies were “appreciated.” . . .
