An Essay on Francis Thompson.

A NUN’S CRITICISM.

“The Message of Francis Thompson.” By a Sister of Notre Dame. Burns, Oates & Washbourne, 2s 6d.

This most excellent and lucid paper, by a Sister of Notre Dame, will give pleasure to all lovers of a superb poet, undoubtedly the greatest to use the English language since the Pre-Raphaelite group. One other there is who achieved a marvellous mastery over form—Aleister Crowley. But I will do no more than mention that “dark angel” in the presence of the poet of children, of flowers, and of the Cross.
