University novelists have not been prolific during the past year; but Mr. Aleister Crowley of Trinity and Sicily has been frankly autobiographical in his Diary of a Drug Fiend (Collins, 7/6), and, according to those who have read this work with the requisite attention, not less obscene in his quiet way than the author of La Garconne (Flammarion, 3/-) himself. Which reminds us that we can supply Mr. Crowley’s rare undergraduate effort, A Don’s Guide to Cambridge (originally published by Elijah Johnson, and since overlooked by collectors) at 10/6.
