STEYNING.
CONCERT FEATURES.
One of the most popular items sung at a concert by the Steyning Choral Society, at the Town Hall, last week, was a setting by Peter Warlock of a charming lyric by a local author—“Milkmaids,” by Mr. Victor B. Neuburg—sung by Miss Mary Congreve. Another of the successes of the evening was a song, “Silver,” by Victor Hely-Hutchinson, the accompanist for Miss Congreve, who also sang a delightful setting of the old Welsh air, “All through the night,” by Sir Henry Wood, which was given by Sir Henry to Miss Congreve as a Christmas gift. Mrs. Chester Carew conducted the Choral Society in part-songs and choruses. |
