THE PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. 17 April 1929 (page 2)
France to Deport Crowley, War “Spy.”
Paris, April 16—The Paris “Midi” says that Alastair [sic] Crowley, who says he was a British secret service agent during the war, and in that capacity posed as a German propagandist, writing articles for “The Fatherland,” will be expelled from France tomorrow.
His French identity card has been taken from him by the government, amounting to technical expulsion. He said he is unaware of any charges against him and planned to go to Brussels with the hope, however, of being able to return to Paris. |
