JOHN BULL London, England 13 July 1929 (page 6)
The Gentle Gossip-Writer.
The gossip-writer on a well-known London daily seems to have been sold a very docile pup. He has just written two eulogistic paragraphs about “one of the most-talked-of men in Europe.”
According to his gushing pen, this man is “very brilliant and interesting” and “exceptionally witty.”
And now for a shock. The man of whom he writes is Aleister Crowley, author of the “Diary of a Drug Fiend,” who has aptly been dubbed “The Human Beast”: but he thinks the stories about him have been exaggerated to a ridiculous extent.
Perhaps they have—by gossip-writers. |
