REUTER’S CORRESPONDENT FREED.
One of Marshal Chang Such-liang’s last official acts before relinquishing the command of the Chinese Northern forces was to order the liberation of Reuter’s special correspondent, Mr. Gerald Yorke, who was arrested by Chinese soldiers yesterday.
Mr. Yorke was released early to-day following the order, which had been preceded by representations from the British Legation. He arrived safely in Peking this afternoon. |
