PRESSMAN ARRESTED.

 

 

Meanwhile it is announced from Pekin that Mr. Gerald Yorke, one of the Press Association’s correspondents in the Jehol war zone, has been arrested by the Chinese military authorities at Miyunhsien, 50 miles from Pekin, while returning from the Jehol front.

     

Mr. Yorke is being held in custody at a small Chinese inn. The charges against him are unknown.

     

Mr. G. Yorke, who is the son of Mr. Vincent Wodehouse Yorke, of Teweksbury, Gloucester, chairman of the Argentine North-Eastern Railway, Limited, and the Mexican Railway, Limited, left Pekin for the Jehol war front nearly a fortnight ago.
