Aleister Crowley, variously known as “The Oom,” “Beast 666,” and “The Beast of the Apocalypse,” filed a libel suit in London against a woman author, Nina Hamnett, who in her book, “Laughing Torso,” allegedly charged Crowley with practicing black magic.
