JURY STOP "BLACK MAGIC" LIBEL ACTION.

 

BLACK MAGIC APPEAL.

 

Mr. Aleister Crowley's Claim

in Alleged Libel Case.

 

 

It is understood that an appeal is to be lodged on behalf of Mr. Aleister Crowley, the author, against the verdict for the defendants in his recent action for alleged libel.

     

He sued Constable and Co., Limited (publishers), Charles Whittingham and Griggs (printers), Limited, and Miss Nina Hamnett in respect of an alleged libel in Miss Hamnett's book, "Laughing Torso."

     

The alleged libel was contained in a statement that Mr. Crowley practised black magic in a temple at Cefalu, in Sicily

     

Mr. Justice Swift tried the case, which lasted for four days and was stopped by the jury.
