NOTABLE APPEALS.

 

“Rasputin” Film and “Black Magic” Cases.

 

 

Among the appeals set down for hearing in the Court of Appeal during the present sittings are two arising out of the following cases:—

Metro-Goldwyn Pictures Ltd.—Against the judgment for 25,000 awarded to Princess Irene Alexandrovna Yousoupoff for alleged libel in the film “Rasputin, the mad monk.”

 

Mr. Aleister Crowley, the author—against the dismissal of his action for alleged libel in Miss Nina Hamnett's book “Laughing Torso.” Which, he said, suggested that he practiced “Black Magic.”

Appeals are also entered in the Jack Doyle purse hold-up and the Off-the-Course Bets decision.
