ALEISTER CROWLEY IN COURT.

ACCUSED OF RECEIVING FIVE LETTERS.

A man who has not yet been traced by the police was mentioned at Marylebone police court when Aleister Crowley, aged 58, the author, who was described on the charges sheet as an explorer, was remanded until next Thursday, charged with feloniously receiving five letters, the property of Betty Sedgwick [Betty May].

Mr. Edward F. Iwi, prosecuting, said that certain documents were at present in the custody of the Master of the Crown Office, and application would have to be made in the High Court for the documents to be produced.

Mr. Kerman [Isidore Kerman], defending, said: “I would like to take this early opportunity of saying that Mr. Crowley has a complete answer to this charge.”

A detective said that when he arrested Crowley he said: “I believe your name is Edward Alexander Crowley?” Crowley replied: “It is.”
