AN AUTHOR’S AFFAIRS.

The statutory first meeting was held yesterday at Bankruptcy Buildings of the creditors of Mr. Edward Alexander Crowley, author.

Mr. E. Parke, Senior Official Receiver, reported that the debtor had stated that he was commonly known as Aleister Crowley; he was also a psychiatrist. He roughly estimated his liabilities at £5000, and did not admit insolvency, his present position being due to his inability to earn money owing to damage to his reputation arising out of a lawsuit. The assets comprised a large claim in a pending action against a person [Gerald Yorke] now said to be in Shanghai.

The case was left in the hands of the Official Receiver.
