‘HUNDREDS’ OF PEN NAMES.

The public examination of Mr. Edward Alexander Crowley, author, was held yesterday at the London Bankruptcy Court. The accounts showed liabilities £4,710, and a deficiency of £4,695.

Mr. Crowley stated that for many years he had been engaged in writing books and articles and in scientific research work. In 1932 he issued a writ against the printers, publishers and author of a book to recover damages for libel. Judgment was given against him, and these bankruptcy proceedings ensued.

He attributed his insolvency to a boycott of his work and writings in this country and to the loss of the libel action. Mr. Crowley, when asked if he had been known by any other name, replied “Hundreds. Nearly every time I wrote a book I invented a name to fit the book.”

The examination was concluded.
