Descendant of 1839 Lord Mayor

The visit of Sir Percy Vincent, lord mayor of London, during the Jubilee celebrations will be of particular interest to Charles Stansfeld Jones, Deepwater, North Arm.

Mr. Jones’ maternal great-great-grandfather, Sir Chapman Marshall, was lord mayor of London in 1839, and the North Vancouver resident possesses some of the heirlooms of Sir Chapman’s family.

These include a portrait of Sir Chapman, pictures of the lord Mayor’s procession of the period, the knight’s coat of arms, several pieces of plate, an old china dinner service and Lady Marshall’s Bible and prayer book. A small reproduction of the lord mayor’s chain is also in the collection.
