In modern times never did so many horrible legends centre round anyone else as those that calumniated the late Alistair [sic] Crowley. But it appears to be forgotten that he brought and lost a libel case against the charming and mercurial lady, Nina Hamnett, for having put him into her clever novel, “The Laughing Torso.” As she said, she had worn so many dresses in her life that to garb herself as a censor of morals was a new experience.
