This book [Books for our Time] was conceived originally as the catalogue of the BOOKS FOR OUR TIME Exhibition, opened in New York at the New Art Circle gallery under the auspices of the Trade Book Clinic of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. It is more than just a catalogue however—even as the exhibition is more than just a show. Both book and exhibition mark and elucidate an important phase in the development of the book. That their influence will be as great as the need that called them forth is the hope and conviction of all who worked for their achievement.
