SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INDIANS

American Indians who have had the chance for a college education and economic success are starting a campaign this week to establish scholarships for Indians living on California reservations.

The program is part of a long range plan to rehabilitate the 24,000 Indians living under substandard conditions due to remoteness of facilities for education and job training.

The Indian Welfare Foundation of California, 681 Market Street, is conducting the drive. Their president is Grady L. McMurtry; vice president, Ernest L. Godfrey; secretary, Betty Sanderson; treasurer, Juanita Poulton.
