My dear Gwynn:

I have just re-read your letter. I find to my regret that you had meant last Friday, for me to dine with you, instead of next Friday as I had thought. Many apologies. All kinds of bother have arisen out of the doings of the man with the mask [Aleister Crowley], climaxing in a law case which was settled yesterday in our favour. I have been so pre-occupied that I have neglected all my letters. I would like to dine with you very much. Monday I am always 'at home' myself: and I am afraid that Wednesday is my only free day this week—will that suit you.

Yrs snly
