Dear Schmeichen [Wilfred Merton],
All you say is very true; but unless I get help from publishers of some sort (for the next few years at any rate) I must give up getting my poetry out.
If you knew the truth about me and my affairs of one sort and another, I believe you'd strain a point and help me through the struggle.
