Just a line to tell you my good news!
I am engaged to M.C. [Mater Coeli—Leila Waddell]—very privately at present—you are one of three people I am telling. That you have been so decent in helping me over it that you are surely the first person who ought to know, as I am sure you will be the first to congratulate me.
Hope to write to-morrow about less absolving matters; for the moment my heart is too full.
