Correspondence from Meredith Starr to J.F.C. Fuller

Dear Fuller—
I hope you do not mind but I told Crowley today that my ideas about the "Rites of Eleusis" coincided with yours; i.e. that I thought it quite the wrong way to go to work. He rang me up and asked me to come round as he wanted to talk with me. He first said that he had heard from Raffalovitch [George Raffalovich] that I suffered from wounded vanity at not being asked to take a leading part in the Jupiter Ritual!! Some time ago I told R. [Raffalovitch] that I was getting rather sick of rehearsing every day as Ward's [Kenneth Ward] understudy, and that I did not see much fuss in continuing to do so. so far, as far as I was concerned it was a waste of time; besides I did not care about being a temporary prop during Ward's absence. I told A.C. that I would not take an active part in the rites at any price; especially after having thought the matter over, because I disliked the whole thing. He said that my objections were merely personal and related to feelings not reason which is more or less true, as I know that Crowley with his immensely superior knowledge would refute anything I said on the matter. However He could not deny that the outside world [newspapers etc] thought that the whole concern was part and parcel of the A∴A∴ instead of owing its existence entirely to him.
Some time or other if you could spare me a short time I should like to ask you some questions relating to the Prolegomena of Kant.
I am just beginning to read some of James Hinton's books——
Kind regards to Mrs. Fuller.
Sincerely yours
Meredith Starr
