Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Brendon
Toronto
[Undated: circa May 1913]
Care Frater,
The Chancellor of the A∴A∴ wished me to say that you are quite right in supposing that not having opened the robe [?] may have proved a serious obstacle to your progress. It may not be much assistance to you to get it, but not getting it is undoubtedly a hindrance. The Chancellor is very sorry to hear that your help continues weak. You will be sent the second part of Book 4 in a few days. With that and the first part [of Book 4] you should have thoroughly understood the elementary key to the principles of both parts of the work. No information is held back by the A∴A∴ You have everything necessary in their instructions. But you cannot properly interpret these instructions unless you practice them, just as even the simplest manual on such subjects as cricket can only be partially understood unless you played a game. You will check your understanding of these instructions by you own experience and the further you advance in your work, the more you will understand.
For the Chancellor of the A∴A∴
