M.H.M.I.M.I. & V.D. Brother,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law!

Your letter to hand re obligation to G.L. [Grand Lodge] as IX°. As I have already informed you I have no longer any personal property and am at present relying upon the support of my friends here to see me through for a short period until I decide upon a course of action in connection with my Work.

I have, however forwarded a letter to my Solicitor in London, a copy of which is enclosed, which will to the best of my belief bring in to the Order somewhere in the nature of One Thousand Pounds at the death of my mother. The interest on this sum should then cover my subscription and that of my wife; meanwhile I shall be quite content to relinquish any privileges that would ordinarily come to me as a Member of that Degree.

As a Viceroy, I will do all I can to look after the work here, but am not now in a position to hold myself personally responsible for other 83 dues. We are all doing the best we can to hold on till better times.

Love is the Law, Love under Will.

Fraternally, in the Bonds of the Order,
