Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Charles Stansfeld Jones

Beloved Son,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Yours dated Feb. 25. and the packet with die to hand.
Bro. Phelps' [Maurice Phelps] essay is quite good of its kind, and should help. Of course he is quite ignorant; he evidently thinks Christ was a real person; but such ignorance is what we want if we are to get similar people. But he must show that the age of Christ is past, that what was all right for people who know nothing of science and history won't do for modern times. On re-reading, I see that he does make a contrast; but he must go further, and show how inadequate is the old law. He must do enough to make his hearers give up their present beliefs, and plunge with burning hearts into our movement.
I'll hope to have further news of you very soon; letters are an absolute boon in this dullest of all places.
Love is the law, love under will.
Thy loving Father,
Θ
