Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Charles Stansfeld Jones
October 4, 1917
Sir Stansfeld Jones P.O. Box 70, Vancouver, B.C.
My beloved son,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Yours dated September 28th probably crossed mine communicating the Word [of the Equinox]. I have now read your record, think it excellent, and trust you will lose no time in bringing it up-to-date. I think your correspondence with the Sunday Sun is excellent and I hope the plan will go through. I like the "Know Thyself" article very much.
It is possible that Smith's [Wilfred Talbot Smith] copy was held up. One cannot rely upon anything at present, but, I will take special means to set this matter right. Very sorry to hear that your eyes have been bothering you. Of course, I don't know anything about them, but I believe a great deal of eye trouble (so called) is not eye trouble but a question of strain and glasses are not necessary. They rather tend to perpetuate the mischief. The proper thing to do is to cultivate relaxation of the muscles involved, the strain upon which has compressed the lens temporarily out of shape.
There is a man named Bates here who treats people on these lines and I am going to try and find out more accurately exactly what he does.
Love is the law, love under will.
Thy Sire,
Θ
