My Beloved son,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Anticipating the light of your presence in this dark city, I did not answer your letters; and now you do not even write. What has happened? There is a new current here.

I should not allow anything to deter you from the performance of those duties indicated by the sentiment of filial piety which I trust constantly inspires you. The sooner you come, the better.

Love is the law, love under will.

Accept my paternal benediction.
