My Beloved Father,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

The fact that certain Employees of B.C.E.R. [British Columbia Electric Railway] received an addition to their salaries to-day, and that I was again purposely overlooked, has given me the opportunity I needed to play the next move in the game. I have no idea what the result will be, but even without a detailed knowledge of the conditions prevailing, you will see I think, that they will have to consider a while before answering. I think it well to keep you informed by making an extra copy of any letters re this case as we may play quite an interesting game of chess before the matter is settled one way or the other.

By the way, I intend to spend a bit of spare time on chess. What is Rosicrucian Chess? Is it played in Lodge and is it the game, of which I have heard rumours, in which a pawn is taken over and made a Queen (Malkuth to Binah?) and then works back protected by the White men till the others are all defeated?

Love is the law, love under will.

Thy son,
