The DeVinne Press, Producers of Fine Printing 393-399 Lafayette Street, New York
Aleister Crowley, Esq., 1 University Place, New York City
Dear Sir,
We beg to quote you as follows on the inserts for The Equinox [Equinox Vol III, No. 1]. We understand that there will be 6 inserts, namely:
2 4-color process reproductions, printed on one side of leaf only, the plates to measure not more than 4 x 6 inches.
1 Photogravure, printed one side only.
2 Black Halftones, printed one side only.
1 Line-cut Insert, printed on two sides.
We will furnish the necessary photogravure plate, two sets of process plates, two halftone plates, and print 1000 copies each of the 6 inserts specified above, on a leaf 7 1/4 x 9 1/2, on White Art Mat paper, for $495.00.
Owing to the uncertainty of prices on all materials used in the printing industry, this estimate is for immediate acceptance only.
We beg to call your attention to the several customs of the trade printed on the face of this estimate, each and all of which are made part of this proposal.
We trust that from this information you will be able to decide at once the number of pages you will use in this first volume, also the size you desire to make the book, so that we can order the necessary cloth and have our binder's stamps made. This is very essential in order to have these materials on hand when we are ready for them.
Owing to the uncertainty of prices on all materials used in the printing industry, this estimate is for immediate acceptance only.
We beg to call your attention to the several customs of the trade printed on the first page of this estimate, each and all of which are made part of this proposal.
Very truly yours,
THE DEVINNE PRESS
