Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Charles Stansfeld Jones
114 Highbury Hill, N.5
Sept. 13, 1922.
My beloved son,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
We have been struggling on through a horribly wet, cold summer. Leah [Leah Hirsig] has finally broken down—her nervous system is all mucked up, and her lungs are affected. We cannot even pay the doctor; and she ought to go to Sicily for six months or till she is better. I had thought that my Drug Fiend [Diary of a Drug Fiend] would have been out by now, but there have been delays. That is why we are on the rocks financially. I wish you could manage to send something to Cefalu—I will manage somehow to get the money to send her down there—I have no doubt that I shall be able to earn something from time to time here; but my own health is far from satisfactory, and the loss of Leah will be a terrible handicap.
I saw your adv. of Q.B.L. in the Occult Review, and hoped I should have had a copy before now.
Love is the law, love under will.
Thy sire,
The Beast 666.
My paternal benedictions to you and all.
Address me as above till further notice.
