Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Norman Mudd
Tozeur

My beloved Son,
93
Et Tozeur this A.M. after tiring day [illegible] and very uncomfortable night.
Alostrael [Leah Hirsig] all in, but pulling round already—3 hours later. All she needs is perfect rest. I shall give up all of the work till she is well.
Your job is simply to see that the cure is not interfered with by anxieties.
While waiting amid the appliances of a feast yesterday, the ghost of the thrice [illegible] came, "without being [illegible]". It is impossible to travel down here with a woman—esp[ecially] a sick one—without a personal servant. So I have engaged this boy at 100 fr[ancs] a month and his help (this negligible—and he'll save us from all sorts of cheating). European [?] living here is dear. 30 a day minimum: we shall do our best to get a house of our own.
Remember the other two guests: don't [illegible] them to join us, but receive respectfully any reasonably likely person who wants to travel via [illegible], tell him: via [illegible] is Hell.
Head tired: so quit now.

Yours
