My Beloved Father
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law!
I conclude you are at Hohenleuben [Germany] by this time so am sending this letter care of T., it is, however, quite a personal one.
In your letter to me dated 18?25 you wrote: "There is no objection to your using T. as a simple agent in his capacity of an honest and worthy man. I leave it entirely to you whether you want to do it or not." This was in special reference to A∴A∴ affairs.
I have just received a letter from Schneider [Max Schneider] in which he states that he has received a letter from you (which he offers to show me but which I have not seen yet) and also one from T. in which the letter claims to be your agent and being to instruct me what to do in regard to certain matters. What's it all about anyway. Why not write to me yourself not through two other parties with double translation of language.
After giving Schneider years of considerate attention and service as a Probationer I have just dismissed him as such since he preferred to seek some other leader rather than fulfill the simple requirement of turning in his exam paper upon which I promised to pass him to Neophyte a year ago. I have no intention of dealing with him further as far as A∴A∴ affairs are concerned—he is very good in some respects but has failed badly in others. What he needs is a check not an encouragement or there will be another Rusty case. However, that is for you to decide if he writes to you in regard to the matter.
But please understand that I am not dealing with any second and third parties as far as A∴A∴ affairs are concerned; it is enough trouble to keep things straight when dealing with you personally. If you want to come to a general clean up in regard to A∴A∴ matters I am quite willing to go into things with you and arrive at some settlement and understanding; but while I am in charge of affairs in this Country, and know the conditions and the people concerned I shall deal with no one else but you directly & then only act when I am assured that you have been fully informed as to the circumstances of the case.
Please let me hear from you,
Love is the law, love under will
Thy son,
