C[ara] S[oror],

Yours, with Ninette's [Ninette Shumway], in. Good of you to send her the cash: but—I fear it does no good: only prevents municipal action. Well, I dunno. No special news here. I can't send any money yet: I've just enough  to carry on for a week. [illegible] is due on the 16th: my '[illegible]' on the 15th. Lord knows what will happen. Several possibilities pending; but dear me! how they do pend!

No good my writing longer: it's too heart-rending.

S long!

Fraternally,
