Correspondence from Ninette Shumway to Dorothy Olsen

[EXTRACT]

[3 April 1926]

Dear Astrid,

. . . Why this idea that I am delaying Lulu [Astarte Lulu Panthea Crowley] for personal reasons? Of course it is painful parting from her, but since she is going I am as anxious as you are to get her off. It does not depend on me. She needs a passport that the Commisario will not give me unless those Tunis papers arrive. . . . In no other way is it possible to send the child to Tunis.
