The "young miracle" happened and saved us for a few days. Meanwhile Mrs Walker came to Fontainebleau—without letting me know. A pretty low-down trick! However, I'll get after her, and let you know the result in a couple of days.

     

Then also, I hope to lay the basis of my compromise with the Metro-Goldwyn and we may be out of the wood this week: if only I'm not crippled again by some new disaster. For this season I let my lost letters to you stand: and hope you will have been able to arrange temporary aid to reach us Wednesday.
