Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to The Lecram Press
The Lecram Press, 26, rue d'Hautpoul, Paris, XIX e
March 4th, 1929
Gentlemen:
In reference to Mr. Cope's [Stuart R. Cope] call here on Friday night, I meant to come down and see you this morning. But I have still got some fever and think it better to wait a day or two.
What Mr. Cope said was, on the whole, satisfactory. But I think it best to make it quite clear that our acceptance of your estimate was, of course, conditional on the fulfillment of your engagement to have the respective parts of the book ready for distribution on the agreed dates as announced in the prospectus.
I should like three conditions clearly understood and embodied in any trait that I am asked to sign.
Bar further accidents I hope to be able to call on you on Thursday, when I hope we can bring the whole of this business to a conclusion satisfactory to both parties.
But you will excuse me if I remind you that we have only 16 days before the 21st of March, and we have not had the proofs promised for the 15th of the last month, nor have we have a proof of the colour design for the cover, etc.
In previous transactions, the printer has always sent me a dummy copy as a basis to work on.
Yours truly,
SIR ALEISTER CROWLEY
