The Germer [Karl Germer] $130 (sent to you) has not come through yet. And there is no news of the $1000. We are already in debt. de M [Maria de Miramar] is pretty sick. Probably appendicitis. Trying absolute rest in bed, ice-bags, liquid food etc. but if she gets worse—or not better by Saturday—I shall have to get a second opinion.

Wire Germer if you think it advisable.

Self now O.K. as to health, bar nervous trouble, which is purely physical, and sometimes affects even my walking. Regardie [Israel Regardie] practically well.

Am sitting very tight; at the same time I feel sometimes as if I should like to get a move on.

I don't mind hardships and humiliations; but I don't want defeat.

A reassuring word from you would do lots of good.
