Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Karl Germer
[EXTRACT]
[31 August 1929]
We have got to see Goldston's [Edward Goldston] cards. I'm wondering whether he's doing all this on a shoestring. He must on no account suspect for a moment that we are unable to start a publishing business of our own, if the fit takes us. The general contract is not yet signed, and I'm not going to sign unless I find out that all is OK.
. . . I am trying to form a syndicate of $50,000 with the help of Gabriel Dee. We have a financier interested already; he has invited us to his country house etc.
. . . I'm working like the devil. Two new pictures (to encourage Goldston) etc. all the old stuff coming from Paris. Restorer, Framer etc. Goldston advances such expenses, but I repay out of profits. . . . I'm rather distracted by the multiplicity of affairs, but full of confidence.
