Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Guy Knowles
Ivy Cottage, Knockholt, Kent.
December 2nd, 1929.
Dear G[uy] K[nowles].
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Sorry about Tuesday. As things are, Wednesday will do as well if you are free.
You are as Freudian as the rest. You attach moral values to the term "vampire", whereas I am referring only to the canine teeth of the upper jaw.
The worst to which you would be exposed would be the best chess player in England. And that is far from certain!
You are completely in error when you state that the Law is not Love. It is on the contrary a striking example of love. The love of lawyers for other people's money.
I will ring you up on Wednesday morning and enquire after your poor health.
Love is the law, love under will.
Yours ever,
AC / ir [Israel Regardie]
