SIX CASES ONE TRUNK AND TWO BASKETS

EX PARIS ACCOUNT OF MR. ALEISTER CROWLEY

Dear Sirs,

We advised you yesterday that the above nine packages had arrived and were in our warehouse awaiting disposal instructions.

We were in error in advising that nine packages had arrived, and in the meantime we have been advised that two of the packages (one Trunk and one Basket) have been stopped by Customs for the reason that a revolver was found in the trunk (for which a Board of Trade import license is required) and half a pound of tobacco on which Duty and fine amount to 6/1d. In the basket was found some mixed Spirit on which the Duty amounts to £1. 6. 1d.

Please advise us if we are to pay Duty and also give an explanation for Custom purposes, why these articles were not declared when shipment was made in Paris, in order that amended entry can be made. Please also apply to the Board of Trade for a license to import the revolver.

Yours truly.
