Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Karl Germer
[EXTRACT]
[Undated: circa late August 1930]
Thynne [Major Robert Thynne] has messed everything up. Mandrake [Mandrake Press] may bust any moment. Yorke [Gerald Yorke] has messed everything up. My business in London urgently needs my absence.
With infinite pains I raised just enough money to get away. Monster [Hanni Jaeger] and I arrive c/o Thomas Cook & Sons, 52-54 Rua Aurea, Lisboa, Portugal, on Monday; and we'll be lucky if we have £5 between us on landing. We got the baggage (by phone from Frankfurt) sent to Köln and got home—just, but only just. We are most grateful to the contriver. Please write me to Lisbon, and send some cash if humanly possible. Here is all HELL.
