Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Karl Germer

[EXTRACT]

[5 September 1930]

I suppose you saw what we wrote to Cora [Cora Eaton]. I thought the only chance was to keep putting it into her mind that she is a Star. Excite that flame, and it may burn up the clouds or miserliness and selfishness.

[ . . . ] About Steiner [Hans Steiner]. He is said to be very keen on the Great Work. Put him in touch with Yorke [Gerald Yorke]; but show him "One Star in Sight" and explain that he must pass the Student examination and start a record, etc. Please give him the portrait of Monster [Hanni Jaeger]; I wrote his name in the corner. It is rather hard work here, beginning the treatment; but at least I have recovered the Will to Live. I had rather the idea that I could not be much more use to the Great Work, and had better cast about for a new vehicle. Your constant love (and the miracle of the Monster) have got me going again.
