Your 'phone call was distressing; but there seems no other way. Of course you must write Pontifex for the full £2000. We plan full campaign later. H's [Gerald Hamilton] Paris man guarantees success on the strict condition that every detail of the campaign is to be carried out with military precision. You and I have both got to take a Vow of Unholy Obedience, so to speak.
This means that if you are told to go to Baghdad and speak to the seventh one-eyed donkey-driver that you see, you go and do it.
I think that I can get him to settle your family feud; but must see him first. I am trying to arrange this.
Pass Stronghilos to neophyte. Will send you his record when I have corrected it. You can add notes of your own. Its appalling; but he works. (Go thou and do likewise!) Do you prefer acidolphilus milk to oxygala? Either goes well with shave grass or Irish Moss. But never neglect inner clean.
Tea and tobacco wanted badly. Keep enough cash in hand and arrange for 3 month's supply.
I have been very ill since writing the above. Woke up with violent pain in elbow—some rheumatic gout—could hardly write. Then coughing, vomiting, asthma—worst go yet—just when I thought it was all cured. But my black eye and swollen cheek are almost back to normal. Bill [Bertha Busch] has been a wonderful nurse. She's ever so happy in the new place, even though we're still naked. New disciple coming at 5.
