Dear Wilkinson.

Dreadfully sorry to hear of your loss. My own first wife [Rose Kelly] died in February, but as I had not seen her for over 20 years, Time had spun gossamer over the wound. I expect to be here still when you come to town, but please call me up as soon as possible after arrival. I cannot read your address, despite earnest prayer. So I’ve changed the petition to asking that you get this letter.

Yours ever

A.C.
