Dear Sirs:

Having just read a copy of "The Laughing Torso," I really would like to know what all the recent fuss was about, and whether such a reputable and large firm as yours, together with a number of readers who dislike their literary freedom being attacked, could not do something to protect themselves from a censorship, which lately appears to have neither rhyme nor reason. I certainly sympathise with any firm like yourselves, who have to cope with, (what appears to be) such un warrantable interference.

Yours faithfully

(Mrs.) J. Fothergill
